I am a 27 year old wife and mother of 3 beautiful children. I work full-time at AT&T in Greensboro NC. I have an appointment with an Endo on Monday 3-7-11. One of the scariest things is that Cushing's was one of the causes of death listed on my grandmother's death certificate in February 2000. I have been struggling with health issues since puberty; I have been checked and cleared of the Following: Thyroid, PCOS, Carpal Tunnel, and Diabetes. I have been diagnosed with the following:Vitamin D Deficiency, Fibromyalgia, Spianl Arhtritis, TMJ, Hypertension (associated with fluid retention), Depression, Irritable Bowel Disorder (IBD), Staph Infection(MRSA), Kidney Stones and Obesity.

I ballooned to 240 with my last pregnancy, I lost down to 203 after his birth (he weighed 9lbs) i have since climbed the scale and been stuck between 240 and 250 for the past 2 years. I did manage to lose 40 lbs downt to 205 in 2009, but i was taking Adipex(Phentermine) and practically starving myself. I am no at 240 and stuck. My PCP noticed i had a "buffalo Hump" on Monday 2-28-2011 and suggested I see an Endo and have my Cortisol level tested since that is something their lab does not do.

My Symptons:
Recurrent Infections i.e. UTIs
Round Red Face
Night Sweats
Flushing
Anxiety
Muscle weakness
Joint Pain
Backaches
Stretch Marks
Acne that won't go away
easy bruising
Sleep issues
irregular perions (now practically obsolete due to ablation procedure Dec 2008)
constant headache
unable to lose weight, the harder I try the more I gain

Jennifer,
I went to my doctor after I hadn't been ablet to loose weight after the birth of my third son. Went from 105 to 205. Tried everything as a Martal artist and yoga girl I knew I should be able to loose the weight. I ate right. For over 3 yrs I watched myself develop symptoms in every body system. Every doctor blew me off, mocked me and dismissed me. I was middle aged (now 35 started at 31)overweight and depressed. My bowels weren't working, blood pressure stroke high then stop low. Joint pain, back neck pain, constant headache. I gave up on finding out what was wrong. I had been told afterall that there was no one thing causing all of this and I've left out so much due to space issue. Finally I decided rather than do the HCG diet I would see my primary instead for the diet program. He put me on adipex in Oct 2011. I've lost 21lbs from my 175.5 starting point. He did something very important he listented for the first time. He tested my cortisol levels and now we've determined cushing's, ACTH stim (done by Mayo)tests suggest pituitary but no tumor on first MRI found out 11/23/11 . Schedule for endo next week and expecting her to order the IPSS test.
I too have three beautiful children except rather than have my periods stop naturally I had to have reconstructive surgery that included a complete hysterectomy. I have TMJ, a constant uti (on antibiotics now). All I can say is though I wish you were healthy it nice to know we are not alone. Best wishes.

Hey Jennifer, I just read your bio and see that you are in Greensboro NC. Did you have a good experience with your endo? Hope you are doing well, please contact me back if you want to. Thanks,
Terri
