I am 31 years old, married with 3 kids and work (a lot!!!) as a sales and leasing consultant for the largest car dealership in upstate NY.
I was recently diagnosed with Cushing's ( about 1 week ago). I'd been having symptoms for years, weight around my middle I had the hardest time losing and keeping off. Buffalo hump, insomnia, panic attacks/ADD, etc. But about 4 mos ago, I started rapidly gaining weight (5'8' and a size 6 to a size 10 in about 7 weeks) the full red moon face, sweating, fatigue, severe muscle cramps, skin infections (staph), acne, facial hair and my BP was clocked in at 180/117, even now with BP meds 3x's a day it's still about 145/98.
I told my PCP after doing some online research, that it sounded like Cushing's. She of course looked at me funny- said it was extrememly rare- but ordered the tests. DHEA sulfate was 385, Cortisol more than twice what it should be, and testosterone almost 4x's. WBC, neutophils, monocytes, Hematocrit, etc all high. A sono revealed a large tumor on my adrenal gland.
I have a consultative appointment next week with a surgeon at Roswell Cancer Institute who specializes in endocrine/adrenal surgery and oncology.
