I am a 54 year old woman who has been diagnosed for each symptom, but not for the underlying disease.

4 years ago I was given a CT Scan, and told there was a 'growth' on my adrenal gland.  I was told it was benign, 'probably a pimple'.  I went on line and discovered Cushings Disease.  There I was - the moonie face,  thyroid disease, edema, depression, sleep apnea, bruising, swift and severe weight gain mostly in my abdomen, fatigue, weak upper leg and arm muscles, constant lower back issues, amenorrhea.

I was refered to an edocrinologist who tested my urine and saliva, but did not share the results with my Dr, and moved out of the state.  I was consigned to having all these problems because I was obese.  Last year - suddenly I was type 2 diabetes, with reflux and diverticulii.  The growth was still on the gland, but had not enlarged.  The new endocrinologist tested my blood for cortisole (?) and said I was obese and diabetic.

Last Winter, I wound up in the hospital with diverticulitus.  More scans, still the lump.  Still no 'definative' diagnosis - but an agreement that I had 'endocrine system issues'...  Is this PCOS?  Is this Cushings?  Is this 10 year long menopause?  I need support and I need your help.

I've asked for a referal to a neuroendocrinologist at Swedish, and will be making an appointment as soon as I can get one.  I have photos over the years - next to each other I look like a poster child for Cushings - everything but the facial hair.  Please write me.

Thanks
Nancy

Cushing's Syndrome and Disease: A Disorder That Often Goes Undiagnosed
