I am 32 years old and would have considered myself "healthy" 6 months ago.

In April I had a stroke. None of my doctors could give an explanation -- there was no head trauma, no blockage, etc. While I was in the hospital, a CAT scan revealed a tumor on my adrenal gland. A few months later I was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease.

I had 1 adrenal gland removed in July 2009 and the recovery from that has been just as if not more difficult than that of the stroke. My doctors now think that the Cushing's may have caused the stroke (high blood pressure, soft tissues, etc).

Right now I am going through the cortisol withdrawal phase. I feel pretty tired and awful most of the time. It has given me hope to read many of the positive stories on this site. I just have to learn patience for healing. God has a plan.

Hi Amanda,
Hang in there -- I also had an adrenalectomy. While tiring, I found a Dr that met my "pace" that I wanted for recovery and I am fully tapered off the medication. Keep being your own advocate and push your Dr to move at your pace.
