Hopefully you don't mind my posting, I do not have a diagnosis yet. I've been sent to an endocrinologist because the internalist noted strong clinical signs of Cushings, but we have not had positive results on tests. The endocrinologist is finding the same thing.
I realized something was wrong when my parents sent photos from my graduation (Ph.D. in History of Science,Technology and Medicine). My face was round a red. I had bruises on my leg that I could not explain and pitting edema. A few weeks later I tried to get home from a conference early because within a week my abdomen was bloated and I was getting easily confused and forgetful. At first I thought it was ascites (water retention in the abdominal cavities), but the doctor was asking questions about things I did not consider symptoms, but each time I answered truthfully with a yes (while explaining why it didn't seem relevant to me). I have a noticable buffalo hump, but knew these occasionally develop with long term benzodiazepine use. My blood pressure went up and I ended up adding a thiazide diuretic. My weight is increasing. I am easily tired and my joints ache. Headaches are a near daily thing. My face and chest get are ruddy and usualy flushed, I have acne on face chest and back, and took to depilating the new fluff on my face.
Despite clinical symptoms that the endocrinologist considers strong evidence of Cushing's tests over the past few weeks are turning up negative. Is this a common experience when it turns out to be Cushing's? Cai.
