I am a 34 year old woman who was just diagnosed with Cushings. I am also an LPN who studied this disorder in school a year ago. I cannot believe I have this rare disorder.
The doctors are still trying to determine if it is being caused by a tumor on my pituitary gland or a nodule I have in my lung. I believe they are thinking it is the pituitary but they are going to do a needle biopsy of the nodule in my lung. They say it appears to be benign so I am hoping for good news on this. I have been suffering for 6 weeks from extremely high blood pressure. I am on 3 blood pressure medications to keep it under control. My blood sugar is high, cortisol levels are high, I have passed 2 kidney stones during this time, been hospitalized for low potassuim twice and am currently on my 4th day in the hospital again.
This disease has taken a toll on me and my family. I am so weak I cannot hardly function. I am hoping I know soon the source of the Cushings so we can move forward and begin a treatment plan.
