Hi, my name is Sandra, i was diagnosed with pituitary dependant cushings in Nov 2009, i had been going to the doctor about seven years beore that with varying sympoms, hight bllod pressure, severe bruising, weight gain, thinning hair,, he just put everything down to my age, (44 at the time),
i was actually diagnosed when my husband had a hospital appointment and i went with him, the doctor noticed my bruises and told me i could have a tumour and to insist on tests,6 months later i had the surgery and all is well, i need steroids and desmopressin for diabetes insipidus, which i developed and now i need growth hormone but my doctor says he's 99.9% sure it wont come back,
i have tests once a year to measure my cortisol and so far its been undetectable, so although i have to take medication for life i feel normal again and i lost most of the 40lbs i put on, it is a often frustrating and scary road to diagnosis but with the right medication you can have a normal life again
