I myself has not had cusshings but im writing this on behalf of my 48 year old mother sharon who has had such a battle with this awful disease,
it started a few years after i was born,my mother gained weight and her periods stopped completley, she grew thick black hair on her face and back.
My mum automatically went to the doctors who run tests and told her she had polysistic ovaries although it would be quite rare as she had already concieved 4 children naturally.
Mum went to the doctors each week with the same problem and still no real answers. Mum was sent for an M.R.I scan which showed she had a tumor on the pitruitry gland but the tests for cusshings came back inclusive or borderline and nothing else was said apart from 'your just fine go home and loose some weight' 12 years later a further scan showed that mums tumor had grown a considerable amount but her consultand did and said nothing.
we decided it was time to see a different endocrinologist which we did! mum took very ill just after, she had 4 strokes,2 grand mall siezures lost the visual fields in her left eye and contracted epilepsy and hydroadenitis supritiva...My iunput is as a carer i took over the role of carer at the age of twelve and i am now 17 it does get hard and you do find it hard to cope but i wouldnt change her for the world
